Well, this is still a cake in progress. The flowers I placed on the bottom tier are not complete, but I wanted to get a pic up so that you can see how far I have gotten. The flowers are added because I have a nice big thumb print and fingernail marks exactly where I placed the flowers. They weren't part of the plan, because I HATE making gum paste flowers with a passion. Anyway, you get the drift of what I am trying to accomplish here and hopefully it will stay nice for out September cake show.

Hey Tim, I'm not sure which part of this cake you liked, but here is a link to the tufted billow weave tutorial so that you can see just how easy it really is to do.http://thejoyofcake.shutterfly.com/tutorials
yup, it is, Tim. I was just talking to Sandra I. Vazquez Lossiseroni on Facebook a few minutes ago and we were trying to figure out what a cake like this would cost if someone ordered it. It's a 16" bottom tier, 12" round, 8" round and 6" round. The bottom tier took two full boxes of the Wilton fondant, the one that costs around $20.00 a box and then the 12" took 1/2 box the same size, and the top two tiers were MMF and I made a double batch, but didn't use all of the 2 batches. Sandra said in Florida, just the skirting alone would cost $150.00 extra on a 16"cake. In my neck of the woods, not too many people that I know of would order something like this. Being from the Midwest....well, we are talking farm country and farm folk, so I have no idea at all what a cake like this would go for. Any ideas?
Oh my gosh Linda... I just read the description... the cake is a dummy... Aw... Not that it's not just MAGICAL... because it is... I was just hoping to get a piece... (at least in my head...) But alas... she's for a cake show... which makes me both happy and sad... :) :(
Aww, thank you Tim! By the way, I got Toba Garrett's book. It just came not too long ago and I have been reading all I can.
WOW!!! This is just AMAZING Linda!!! I REALLY do want to take a class with you!!! Just to learn how to do this...!
awwww, thank you Lee!
Well you know what they say - Wise men think alike.............and fools never differ!!!!!!!
haha! Goreti said something very similar on my Facebook page!! You two must think alike!
lol - I know you hate making the flowers, but I have to say, I think this little spray really adds something to the cake. Every cloud has a silver lining, you know. Or in your case, every thumb print has a gumpaste flower!
