A different perspective. To make the handle, I traced the oval pan to the half way point, and then had my husband cut out a piece of wood in this shape. When I made the handle, I broke the first one and learned that you have to 'glue' the ropes to each other before twisting them to create the handle. I used a skewer that was cut in two pieces and used the gum paste glue to hold it into the handle. Because of the bow, the skewer sticks stuck into the cake perfectly with no wobble.
