This is a cake I made for 2 girls who were turning 10 (cousins.) Neither of them are very girly and both love to read. I decided to make my first book cake and make up a story about each girl incorporating thinks they love to do. The left half is French vanilla cake with a strawberry cream filling and the right half is red velvet with cream cheese filling. Covered in marshmallow fondant. Hand painted the book borders and the girls' names. The stories are edible image prints. It was my first time to use the edible images, too. Didn't blend in as well as I'd hoped, not sure I did it exactly right.
