Techniques
Gumpaste/Fondant sides and handles detailed, painted and textured by hand
Modeled gumpaste tools & nails hand detailed (used molds and free formed)

How To
Using gumpaste/tylose mix roll out enough to cover your template and cut. Texture if desired by using a texture mat or by hand. Dry for several days, up to a week. Must be completely dry.
Using either gumpaste, fondant or modeling chocolate make tools. Several molds are available or you can form them by hand. If using gumpaste or fondant allow several days to dry. Chocolate requires overnight.
Cake consist of 3 stacked 1/4 sheet cakes, stacked and trimmed to appropriate size and shape. Covered in black fondant and allowed to dry overnight. A dense cake is needed to handle the weight of the sides.

Apply gumpaste/tylose sides using melted chocolate.
Using a extruder or by hand cutting make a trim to be applied along the edges of the end sections of toolbox. A half moon disc works well for this.
Paint (starting with lighter colors) layers to achieve the wood grain. Paint tools and detail.
Slide the handle into place after paint has had time to dry and keep in place with melted chocolate on the bottom or by using gumpaste glue.
