Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This was a golf-themed cake for my father's 71st birthday. Putting green and shoe are vanilla pound cake layered with Baileys buttercream, hand carved and covered in fondant and/or gumpaste. Both the shoe and glove (fondant with CMC) are life size.

Thank you all for your comments!!  This is the first time I participate in any cake contest so getting feedback from fellow cake designers is very motivating.

Jasmine, whenever you get around to recreating this cake, send me a note and I'll be happy to share the templates.

June, your husband has better taste in golf shoes than my Dad!!!  I modeled these after a pair I saw on line, because Dad's were kind of "boring."

Rosemary,  yes, it's always such a thrill when the fondant goes on without any wrinkles or tears.  The shape of this cake really helped though,  no sharp edges to deal with.  I love it when I can shape a cake to make things go easier!!
