Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This was the perfect birthday cake for a girl who is all about fashion and beauty. The cake was covered in fondant. An angle ruler was used to make quilting marks around the cake, dragees were placed at each line intersection. The makeup bag was made of gumpaste using balls of plastic wrap to hold the bag in shape. The zebra style line pattern was made on the makeup bag by rolling the pieces over impression mat. Stitching lines were made with a quilter's wheel. After the bag was dry, it was painted with a mixture of vodka and black color gel, then airbrushed with edible pearl finish. All of the makeup pieces were hand-shaped and hand-painted.
