Most of the cakes I make are cut out from a sheet cake. I used a few 6 inch cake pans for this one. It just happened to be the right size for the amount of people I was serving. You can always cut out the shapes you need from a sheet cake pan. You don't really need to go and buy a pan for every different shape you need. I stacked four layers (that's two layers cut in half and frosting between) of cake then put a cardboard circle on top of some dowel rods then stacked four more layers on top of that to get the hieght I needed. Then covered it in Marshmallow Fondant and hand painted the whole thing. I like to use a wooden base with a wooden dowel drilled into it and then stack my layers around the dowel rod to keep the cake steady during transportation. Hope this helps.
