Well, it is a true show stopper. I don't think I could ever make a cake like this and actually watch someone put a knife into it. I would just sit and cry.
I love this cake!!!!!
Thanks for the appreciation Linda. This was a fun project. For the bird I formed the shape with an 18 guage wire and built it up with kitchen foil. I then wrapped it with cling film to make it smooth and easy for my fondant to adhere. I cut 2 bird shapes from rolled out fondant and stuck it on making both side of the bird. I used a manicure scissors to nip the tiny feathers. The tail and wing were cut out of gum paste. For the pebbles I mixed moss green, brown, black and ivory coloured fondant to get the marble effect. The leaves and berries are made of gum paste. The leave were coloured green and dusted with a mix of bronze and tangerine. I painted the berries with green, tangerine and yellow dust mixed with alchohol. The bonsai trunk is a dowel built up with kitchen foil. The sand is made of almond crunch. Hope this helps.
OMG!! This is absolutely, unbelievably, drop dead, jaw dropping, eye popping beautiful! Please, please give details!
