Cake is two layer chocolate sour cream cake using a 6 inch round pan and one of the pans from the ball pan set. The red leaves on the side are made from a mixture of modeling chocolate and fondant/gum paste mix. The 'cake stand' is actually a candle holder that holds a votive cup but my husband cut out my plate from wood and then glued 2 round pieces of 1inch pine in the center that fit snugly into the hole where the votive cup would normally fit. The hat itself is covered in half gum paste half fondant mix. The rose is black fondant dusted with a gray/super pearl luster dust mix. Thank you for looking.

wow linda, this is so gorgeous.. as always you rock in your work girl, I wish to wear it ;)
Thank you Bob and Laurie for your kind words! They mean a lot to me! =O)
Linda, I am teaching some teen girls cake decorating and we were just doing ribbon roses. I had a few examples of their use and when the girls saw this they were impressed and inspired! Their flowers got much better after that.
Linda, you did good. You want to eat it and wear it at the same time....very authentic looking. I look at
a creation like this and it all comes down to the details...and yours are great...Aloha, Bob
Thank you both, Edith and Kariema. Edith, the black band underneath is a strip of black fondant, and then the 'bling' on top of that is a strip that I cut from a cake fabric (Non edible) that CK products makes.
What a pretty hat.
I've seen hats very simialar to this one, very nice..what is the black band made of?
Thank you Irene!
