Just a quickie cake for hubby and I to have a piece on my actual day. A Mary Berry American Chocolate Cake sponge recipe, torted with vanilla butter icing, covered in marzipan and chocolate ganache. Piping in Royal Icing. Decorated with a layered white and plain chocolate slab using an embossing mat and finished with sugar violets flower spray. It was absolutely delicious cake!

June, she does say that she has to really watch what she eats when she's not presenting. But she is an absolute icon over here. I have had one of her books for years and haven't found a duff recipe yet. She has risen to fame again with the next generation in a TV programme called The Great British Bake Off. It's a great programme and is now about the biggest show on TV. Finished for this year, but I'm sure there will be another next year.
Looked Mary Berry up. How come for a cookery teacher & baker she is SOoooo thin!!! Must not eat her own baking....... :o)

Ah thank you so much everyone. It really didn't take that long as I was using stuff that I either already had in the freezer, or was making anyway for another project I was working on. But it's amazing how the thing you put the least effort into comes out the best! The flowers did take a while, but I had already made them anyway and decided not to use them on the other project!
