Connie, the horn looking ones are cookies which I have made with chapati(Indian bread) maker.

Nadia, I saw where you posted this same post on CC as a tutorial on how to shape the cookies, so I saved that one in my favorites too. You can never have enough places to be able to find something!

Linda,This is butterfly cookies recipe.

Butterfly cookies

Ingredients

 

250 gram butter

100gram granulated sugar

2egg yolks

400 gram purpose flour

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Directions

 

  1. In a large mixing bowl beat butter with an electric mixer on medium to high speed for 30 seconds. Add granulated sugar until fluffy. Beat in egg yolks,vanilla extract .Gradually add flour mixture. Beat at low speed until well blended. If dough is sticky add flour until a soft dough forms. . Divide dough in half. Cover; refrigerate 30 minutes or until firm.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease cookie tray. Roll half of dough on lightly floured surface to 5mm thickness. Cut dough with butterfly cookie cutters. Place cutouts on prepared cookie  tray.
  3. Stir 1 egg yolk with 2teaspoons of milk and saffron or orang food color and Spread on the cookies with brush , put pistachio powder for body of  butterfly.
  4. Bake 12 to 15 minutes or until edges are lightly browned. Remove to wire racks; cool completely.
  5. Add some dot with chocolate melt on the wings.

Linda,This is cookies recipe which is on the swan.

Ghotab

INGREDIENTS for pastry

110gm butter

240gm purpose flour

1/2 cup plain yogurt

1 teaspoon baking powder

2 egg yolks

1/2 teaspoon active dry yeast

5 tablespoons warm water

1 teaspoon sugar

1/8 teaspoon salt

Ingredients for filling

1 cup walnut or almond or pistachio as you like

1 teaspoon ground cardamom. if there is not you can use cinnamon

2 tablespoons honey

Mix all filling ingredients together

Directions

Stir dry yeast with 1 teaspoon sugar and warm water,let to rest and rise for 5 min.

In a large bowl beat yogurt and yolks and butter until well blended.Then add flour , BP,and rested dry yeast and salt. knead well with the hand. If dough is sticky add flour until a soft dough forms. Keep dough in a plastic wrap and let stand for 1hour to let rest.

. Roll half of dough on lightly floured surface and Roll dough out to1mm thickness. .cut it into circles with a cookie cutter .place as a small of filling in the middle and turn out like rose.I show you on photo with fondant how turn out to rose and you have to put in the circle filling mixed instead of fondant which I put it.for moist and stick the petal edge I use white egg and apply with brush.

Heat the cooking oil in deep saucepan.drop the cookies and deep fry until gold brown.Drain them on paper towels.

Oh, my, Nadia, you make it tough to choose!! I want them all!! I have a checkerboard recipe already....how about....the ones that are in the silver swan? That one or the ones that are the yellow butterflies?
