Except for the ribbon it's all edible. Chocolate mud cake, covered with dark chocolate ganache and a layer of fondant. Details are a combination of pastillage and modelling paste.

Hi, I am in South Africa and just read your post, I know its old, but I hope you STILL don't doubt yourself?

For this cake I would have only been able to charge 90 US D in SA! this is in 2013....

Hi Barbara,

at first I was going to make them out of styrofoam and cover them with fondant. But I ended up making them out of solid gumpaste. The blocks themselves aren't huge - they were only 3cm x3cm. You make them and then let them dry for a day or so before putting the letters on and attaching to the cake.
