The one on the right is the BD cake, while the one on the left is the backup if we run short! On both cakes, the bottom layer is a rich dark chocolate, with chocolate chips! The middle is German chocolate, and the top is a yellow cake, all layers filled with chocolate buttercream.
On the rt., graduated ombre buttercream, going from dark blue/green up through the purples into the pinks. All of the Ariel colors. Then sitting in front is the gumpaste plaque that I made of Ariel with 'Jordan', birthday girl, and on the base is more of the darker colored BC with multicolored sprinkles, what else, sprinkled on. And added to that is an array of different seashells & rocks, made of gumpaste, & flavored with rootbear, which is also used to give the brownish lines running throughout them. The cake board edging is covered with 'Fight like a Girl' ribbon, which she has to do because she has an older brother! lol The number '5' wax candle is the only thing not edible on this one.
The cake on the left Has a light crumb coat in a mixture of the colors left over from the first cake, just not mixed too well, so we can still see the variations in the colors once applied. You know, that 'under the sea' color. I also used the leftover colors from cake 1 to paint an array of plants & flowers going up the sides, with some white bubbles rising upward, here & there. The base is BC mimicking the ocean floor around the cake, with rocks, sea shells, and bits of broken slabs of rock, all made with GummyGel, as are the crab,& fish on the sides, and the hippo & turtles on the top. The cake topper, 2 poles with the 'Happy Birthday' banner are, of course, not edible. lol Finally, going around the top edge, also in GummyGel, is a banner that reads 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY'. This one was in case we ran out of cake, but we only had 1 slice left! {:o))) They were narrow slices since they were so tall.

Afternoon Katy!  Thanks ever so much for the nice comment!  The plaque did go rather well with the cake, didn't it??!   I loved working on this one so much.  It was basically an easy one, just time consuming, changing the colors on the outside, to match the inside, as I progressed up the cake!  And it was rather tasty too! ha ha ha

Thanks again Sandra, and I knew that typo was not 'you'! lol   Mine does the same thing all the time.  At first I thought it was a great asset, then it just became a pain in the rump.  And since I switched to Win10, I am having problems in several areas.  Hope we can clear them up soon, or I am going back to Win7.

And I had so much fun playing around with all those colors in the Ariel picture!!   Gwen wanted the exact same cake as before, on the inside, said I could do the outside in any color I wanted, so I did!  The plaque has a much darker/better look to it in real life, looks all washed out in the pics.  Must be the light reflecting off the shine where I steamed it to set the colors.  And Jordan is getting so big that I will soon have to stop picking her up, or pay the consequences! lol

Brilliant Bonnie - love the way your plaque is sitting and the colours are gorgeous!  Sounds damn delish too!

Your frosting colors on the original cake are so gorgeous!  I love the picture of the girls admiring the cake :o)  Can't believe how much Jordan has grown just since I've known her.

Bonnie, your little "actual birthday" cake looks so yummy!  I just want to stick my finger in the frosting and have a good lick :o)  BTW, I typed gummies, but my stupid computer changed it to dummies!  It wouldn't let me type it again and I had to override it.  Sorry.

Thanks Goreti!  And I had me some chocolate, that is why there are only 2 cake layers left to play with! ha ha!  Today is our 'Bell Family Reunion' at my brothers place.  And it is Jordan's actual birthday, so I threw together the last 2 '6" layers' that I had, & made a quickie BD cake for her, for today!!  {:o)  Now I get to sing Happy Birthday again!  And I am going to set the pace this time, yesterday's rendition sounded like someone was, oh so slowly, hanging a cat by it's tail!  It went so slow I almost forgot what came next,  if you know what I mean.  This kind of thing, especially for a child, needs to be a little PEPPY!  lol

Great job Bonnie.  Those flavors sound delicious.  Making me crave some chocolate.

Sandra, I had to put ALL of the Gummies on the cakes, because the kids helped me make them.  It is just that they never saw the finished cakes, just the crumb coated ones, & it all put together, until Party Time!

Bonnie honey, you have just blown me away with Jordan's BD cake!  The plaque is just fabulous, as is the gorgeous piping going up the sides and top!  You totally out did yourself on this one :o)! You've got to post pictures of Jordan with her cake :o)  I even love your backup design and all the cute little dummies!  Wonderful job, Bonnie and the cakes sounds so luscious, too!
