I made this for my daughter's 1st b-day. I used the Wilton T-shirt pan and then carved it a little to make this dress. The ruffle and dress are fondant. The white ruffle is royal icing.

Thanks Clemee. I was given this pan, but honestly, it would be pretty simple to carve from an 11x15 rectangle pan if you already have it.  Just draw a little template, lay it on top and carve...That's what I would've done if I didn't have this on hand already.

Kamini - I don't mind your questions at all. I love to share!  The ruffles are really easy to do, just practice a tiny bit and you'll have it!  Take a rose tip (any sized one will do - the bigger the tip the bigger the ruffle it will make) and hold the fatter end of the tip to your cake, and point the thinner end out.   Then, keeping that fatter end in light contact with your cake surface, gently rock your hand both up and down and pull the frosting to your right.  Depending on the speed that you pull and rock, you will get different effects on your ruffles.  You might be able to find a video on You tube so you can see it (I wish I could show you). But they are easy and look really cute.

Sorry if i seem to be asking too many questions - but how do you make royal icing ruffles?
