Well, the Scarlet Macaws Cake made it to the fair without any problems. Mike carried the birds separately and I added them on site.

If it survives the fair and stays in one piece, I would love to show it again. There is a competition in Memphis, TN (about 225 miles West of me) in January. The theme is "If Dreams Had Wings". I guess, in a stretch, this one would work LOL. Experience is the main thing I wanted from this show and I learned a million things, so I am satisfied.
Katy, you are not the only one who was skeptical about how the components would come together! I thought the orchids didn't seem to fit and the flowers were the wrong colors for the birds, but they did all seem to work once they were put together. Since I never saw it together until it was actually on the show table, it was a little scary.
Sandra - I am almost lost for words, this is truly breathtaking. I confess to being a little dubious about how this was all going to come together. How wrong could I have been, it's absolute perfection. Very, very well done and so glad the macaws made it in one piece. They so tie it together and give it a glorious finish. How disappointing for you that you had no competition - bit of an anticlimax.
Absolutely!! This cake deserves it's day in the limelight! Another competition is the way to go!
Thank you, June! It was the only one in it's class. If I don't get a blue ribbon, I will want to know why! LOL.
Talk about designing by the seat of your pants....! Thank you, again, Betty. Considering the talent of this little circle, just kind words from ya'll is more than enough for me!
As you said you learned so much and you gave "US" so much pleasure watching your idea unfold and become a work of art.
Thank you, Betty! Turned out to be much ado about nothing - only three decorated cakes entered. I posted the other two, as well. At leas all of them were nice :o)
Outstanding Sandra...It's just as beautiful as I knew it would be. So glad you made it OK.
