This was a birthday cake for my neighbor and she didn't care (or even notice) that the layers had spare tires!

I think that had a lot to do with it.  I had it refrigerated and it was fine until it set out for a couple of hours.

The heat probably got to it.  That is why I always refrigerate my cakes.  I have two that I have frosted in the fridge until tomorrow.  Should be fun with the fondant tomorrow.  We are in for a scorcher tomorrow with high humidity.  Not looking forward to it.

I just had about a ton of buttercream (made with real butter) between the tarted layers.  Hummingbird cake, if you are not familiar, is a banana cake and very soft to start with.  Other people may have not noticed, Goreti, but I was horrified that it would collapse before we cut it.  It didn't, thank goodness!

We are the only ones that notice these things.  The flowers are lovely.  What was the filling?
