Cake topper for sis-in-law's cake. I purchased a rubber stamp to do the
"Feliz Cumpleanos" but it was too big. Plan "b" was to stamp it on a piece of paper so I could decrease the size using my printer/copier then transfer it on but my printer kept giving me a message that there was a paper jam, which there was none, & couldn't get beyond that point. Plan "c", ended up freehanding it. These old hands are shaky & it kinda shows but it is what it is now. Did it in black b/c thought it wouldn't stand out as well if in peach. What does everyone else think? Honest opinions appreciated. So this will go on top & flower is going on front of cake. Stay tuned :)

Thank you so much Goreti. You are so right about finding fault w/our work. Sometimes I wish I could see my work the way everyone else sees it instead of the way I see it. I will nit pick it for days on end and say to myself I should've done this or shouldn't have done that. Finally I just give it up, try to learn from my mistakes, & do better next time.
Thank you again Sandra & I have to agree w/you about writing in cursive w/icing. Much easier than trying to do print.

Denise, I think your writing is about as perfect as is possible unless you are a machine!  Honestly I find it easier when writing with icing to do a cursive type style than a printing type.  Seems to be more forgiving.  Can't wait to see your new fur baby!

I'm with Sandra.  This is so lovely and I prefer it handwritten.  Definitely the black for the writing was the right choice.  I think it's perfect as is.  It is funny how we always seem to find fault with our work.  Everyone else just sees the beauty and don't notice anything else.

You are such a sweetheart Sandra. Than you so much. I was really concerned that the black would be out of place but now it's kind of growing on me. My letters in the "cumpleanos" are not even/the same size. Looks like they started growing towards the end...lol. I have a new 5 mo old 4 legged baby who thinks he's a smarty pants. I caught him up on the chairs in the kitchen by my island where I do all my cake work. He will have to be banned from the kitchen from now on when I'm working on cakes. Didn't have that problem w/my 3 little girls. They were all chihuahuas & couldn't reach/jump that high to get on the chairs in the kitchen. We went totally to the opposite end of the spectrum. Will have to send you pics of him on FB. Can't add pics in the comments here from my phone like I could w/my laptop. Fell totally head over heels for him @ first sight :)

Denise, this is an absolutely wonderful topper...I am in love!  The writing could not look as well in any color other than black.  It is perfect.  And you want an honest opinion?  I much prefer the personal touch of hand written text to the perfection of printed copy - truth.  You did a fine job with the writing and the whole thing is just so darned beautiful!!
