The top tier of this cake was made with a 6" round cake and a 6" 1/2 sphere mold. It is covered in fondant and decorated to look like a graduation cap. The bottom 2 tiers were iced in buttercream and decorated with fondant polka dots. The 2012 was cut out of gumpaste and covered with gold disco dust. I would recommend making an edible gold paint instead of using disco dust. It didn't adhere well. Otherwise, I this cake was a success!
