Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Made for a little boy's 3rd birthday. He loves the local football team and the bulldog is their mascot.

Hi Kamini,

Not a silly question at all. What I do is find an image (or create one - like this one here I took a clip art file of the football helmet and then put the bulldog log over it. I use Photoshop  to get it scaled to the proper size.  You could use Microsoft Word too if you don't have photo editing software.  Before I print it though I FLIP THE IMAGE  (make it the mirror image).  Then you take wax paper, put it over your picture and trace the lines with very lightly tinted (or non-tinted) piping gel.  After you trace your entire image, take your wax paper and put it face down onto the cake, so all the piping gel is touching the cake. Lightly press on the backside of the wax paper along the piping gel lines to transfer them onto the cake (sort of like putting on a decal or a fake tattoo).  Then gently pull of the wax paper and your image (now facing the right way) will be on your cake and you can trace it with frosting etc.  Hope that helps!!

This is probably a silly question - but i'm just learning how to decorate cakes. How do you do this picture? It's in your mind? or do you mark it on the cake in some way?
