Bull riding COWBOY HAT - 122F
This is my first ever hat cake! :~) Cowboy hat is made of fondant and gumpaste mixed and is completely edible. I bought one of the children's cowboy hats at Walmart (you know one of the black or red ones). I dusted it real good with cornstarch. I then rolled out my f/g mix thin and then molded it to the hat. I let it set for 2 days and then removed the f/g hat from the child's hat form and let it sit on a 8" cake dummy for 7 days to completely dry. Then to decorate I brushed off all the cornstarch that was on it and I cut a strip of brown fondant to make the band around the edge and I used a silicone mold for the braided band. I used metal cutters for the cactus and boot and I made a cardboard template for the bull rider I mixed f/g to cut out the bullrider as to make it easier to cut out then I cut it out using my xacto knife. Around the bottom of each tier I used a silicone mold to make the rope.
