You are very welcome. I didn't charge anything as it was for my nephew. He did take me a long time, but I was also really into it as an art project (and I love gory horror movies and halloween stuff myself, lol). If I did this for a customer I'd charge $45 for the 8" cake then add for my decoration/sculpting time. Probably 10 hours at $10/hr. So total for the entire cake would be $145.

Hi Denise! First I used heavy gauge floral wire to make a "skeleton". Then I did a cereal treat core for the body (keep it small so he stays skinny as you build him up). The head is a separate piece. To do the head, make a gumpaste core on a wire or toothpick and let it dry.

I used modeling chocolate to make the head and body. For the body, I sculpted all the emaciated details and injuries and a thin core for the bone stump. Don't forget to give him a skinny neck. Then I used gumpaste to finish the bone and to make the shirts. Do it in sections just like a shirt so the seams are where the shirt seams would be. Work it on him to get some nice draping. Then I used my modeling tools to make tears and shredded areas and open the areas over the wounds (nice gash in his back!).  Tear up the modeling chocolate around the bone too so it looks like it was ripped off.

The head... I used the modeling chocolate over the gumpaste core. Just made a really emaciated looking guy with really nappy hair. Did the right eyeball in gumpaste. Tore the cheek area with tools and sculpted teeth in the tear. Make the lips look dry and chapped. Then I painted all the details... shadows, veins, dirt, greenish-yellow eye color, bone marrow, fleshy gore in the wounds, dried blood & dirt on clothes. The fresher looking blood is red piping gel applied with a brush. Don't forget to put fresh blood in and on the mouth!

Good luck and have fun! Make sure you share!!  ;)
