This three tiered cake was covered with buttercream and then with fondant. It was adorned with a simple black ribbon at the bottom of each tier. Seven red roses were placed on top to add that Wow! factor. Red rose peddles were scattered around the base of the cake.

What I have found is that if your fondant isn't thick enough, before applying it to your cake, you will have indentations all over. An even amount of icing is the key too. When rolling out my fondant, I'm constantly running my fingers around the edge of the of the slab of fondant to see if the thickness is the same. If not, I pull it up and start all over. Plus I pray to the Lord alot!!!!! As far as the ribbon, I don't tie them at all. I overlap the edges of the ribbon and pipe three to five beads of icing down the seam of the ribbon to give it a finished look. It really adds a beautiful touch to the back of the cake.
