Each tier is 2 layers lemon sponge with lemon curd and lemon buttercream.
For the bows and broaches I used moulds from Karen Davies range. The small flowers on top are non edible cake decorations.

Look forward to seeing all your photo's. I'm quite sure I might pinch a wee idea or 2 from you as well. Thanks again.

I hear ya. None of my cakes turn out the way I envision when I start. That's the beauty of the business (most of the time). I live far enough away that no one will every know I stole your idea when I attempt to recreate this in a month or so.  Thanks so much for the inspiration.  I'm sure I'm not alone in my gratitude.  I'll post the clone later this spring.

Hi Marian
Thanks very much for the lovely comment.
The mosaic was all done using fondant, as were the bows and broaches. To be honest with you, when I started decorating this cake I had now idea what I was doing. I just started cutting thin pieces of fondant and sticking them onto the cake that had already been covered in fondant and I thought it was maybe similar to some kind of mosaic style. I was pleased with how it turned out. Well for a first attempt at it anyway.

I'm having one of those "why didn't I think of that" moments, Lorraine.  Excellent job.  I have got to find time to load some pictures to my profile (never made one like this, though).  Question: did you use fondant, gumpaste or a mixture for the mosaic?
