Sandra, using the 1M tube and doing the pleats is one of the easiest ways to  decorate the sides of a cake. You go from top down or bottom up with icing bag all the way around & swirl on top edge (using same tip) & voila... you have a decorated cake. :))))

Magic Icing work, subtle and pleasing to the eye, I love to work with buttercream, but I will need to practise more to reach your standard, phew!

This is gorgeous, Betty!  What size tip did you use for the top border?  It is sublime, as always!
