Hi Shannon, thanks for the compliment. First of all the cake is NOT covered in fondant, it's buttercream. I just smoothed it out with a Viva paper towel after I iced it. The black frosting is NOT royal icing. I just thinned out the buttercream thin enough to pipe out of a #1 tip. To get it black, I used brown and black wilton gel coloring. Hope this helps. Hi, beautiful cake. I am wanting to do something similar for my nieces bithday. Black piping over white fondant, but I don't know where to start. Is the piped icing Royal icing? How did you colour it black? Dose it stick straight onto the fondant? what are the chances of it slipping off? Your help would be well appreciated
