Thank you, sweet Bonnie and Marbel! Katy, I am not sure the still make the Cake Cricut, but they are available on eBay and Amazon. I know a lot of people do not like them. I bought mine, unopened, from my neighbor for $50.00 - Cake Cricut Mini, extra mats and four cake cartridges. She and her sister (also my neighbor) are into making cards and scrapbooking big time and happened to come upon a good deal for the Cake Cricut. Each of them purchased one thinking they were going into cake decorating.......even though neither of them bakes! So, although I never thought much about one, I couldn't turn it down at that price. It is a life saver for letters! Anything that keeps me from having to pipe is my friend!
Nice! love it!
mmm - Cricut machine is sounding more like a must every day.....Christmas is coming, so, who knows? Letters are my bug bear.
I had only a brief learning curve, June. I found that it works best with thin gum paste or stiff fondant. I greased the mat lightly to help it stick and started the cuts away from the edges.....worked like a charm.
Katy, you are so sweet! Thanks, again :o)
I used the Cake Cricut to cut out the letters. The red background was cut first using the "shadow font", the I used a yellow gum paste to cut (with the same font) the regular font and glued it on top of the red background. Painted it gold with glaze and dusted with gold dust. I think I fell in love with my Cricut yesterday - finally.
Keep coming back to this, I love it so much. How did you get that effect on her name Sandra? Did you cut them out in red then paint over or what? Super effect.
Thank you, June! I really hope the birthday lady (she will be 60) likes it.
