Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I made this white cake with vanilla buttercream for my brothers birthday. The outside of the barrel is covered with fondant. To get the wood look, I created a marbled effect with different colors of fondant and then hand painted to enhance the wood look and finally used carving tools to create more depth and realistic look. The ice is made out of isomalt and I used a foil effect to make it more realistic. The bottles are completely edible. They are all sugar and the Lone Star beer logo is made from edible paper. I also used gumpaste for details on the cake.

On my son's last birthday I asked him what he wanted.  He said he wanted a beer, so I made a large cake that looked like a beer bottle for his guests and a life sized replica of his favorite brand of beer in a can for him.  (He didn't say whether he wanted bottle or can so I made both.)  I thought it was great until I saw this!  Wow!
