June, it's a tip given to me by a trusted friend who has been making cakes for last 20 years. I have using her tip ever since she told me, it really works, you will have to try it. You won't believe that the 2 boxes of cake mix with 2 tbsp of meringue powder was exactly 2 inches high for one layer :)
Well I am glad everything was a success, and you can breathe a sigh of relief. And thanks for the tip about the meringue pwdr added to the cake mix. I have never heard of this before. I guess because it is essentially a protein, that is why it works. Eggs are protein. Will try it the next time I use a cake mix.
Thank you so much, Tracy, June and Linda for being so helpful, without you all it wouldn't have been possible. Tracy, the anxiety sure is over, once I saw the cake coming together, :) I kind of fell in love with the bears I made and actually miss them now :(
June, I was so relieved when the customer told me that all her guests loved the cake :) By the way, I don't know if I told you, if you add a tablespoon of meringue powder to a box of cake mix, it helps the cake to rise than the usual without it. That's what I did added a tbsp each to the batter, so I used only 4 boxes of cake mix in 12x18" pan.
Linda, I had managed to find the pan in Walmart and yes, everyone at the party liked the cake especially the little children, they all wanted to have the bear :)
Lorraine, thank you so much :) And on the side of the cake, if you notice are flower shaped buttons :) Enjoyed the making all the little details :)
Oh, WOW! Naheed, it turned out so adorable! Your teddies are so cute too! I'm so glad that it turned out for you. And I see you did find the pan as well.
This is very cute Naheed. Icing is lovely & smooth, and decorations are sweet. I can see how the customer would have been very happy with this cake!!!!
That turned out really well Naheed - I hope all the anxiety over this cake is gone now :)
I posted the sheet cake I made, it was the football shirt '95' along with the football logo and scarf cake for the same lady (which was gluten/wheat free) Phew, glad that one went down well.
Fabulous little bears - wonderful cake. Now I need something sweet :) Txx
