Thank you all for the kind words.  Anita, for the pearlized royal icing - I start with a pretty thick royal icing and thin it with just a bit Pearl sheen airbrush color and just enough piping gel to get a nice piping consistency (which also adds a bit of a shiny look), after the royal has dried, I airbrush over everything again with pearl sheen - the royal icing piping really picks up the pearl finish.  If you don't have airbrush, pearl spray also comes in a can.  I have used that before too - you just don't have as much control as to where the spray is going.
