Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Had some leftover gumpaste so decided to try something I had never done. Not sure if I got the size of the petals right. This was done totally freehand. Not cutters, used corn husk to vein the bauhinia petals. Vein on leaves done with cocktail stick. Broke one of the petals when putting it together so decided to make it look like insects had gotten to it.

Stamens are perfect as the ladies have said.  So delicate - way out of my league!

Me, too, Bonnie!  Boy, I would love to watch you do this, Goreti!

Yes, lovely.  Looks real alright!  Those stamens make me cry.  They look that good!

Thanks Sandra.  The stamens & pistons are on wires.  The first one (largest flowers) I found a little thick.  I actually did it when I had the bad cold and was not very patient so I waited until I felt better to do the others.  Those are much much thinner.

Your pistols and stamens are so delicate and realistic....how did you make them?  Are they on wire or  just gum paste?  Love the little buds, too.  This arrangement does not need a cake.  It is a beautiful stand-alone piece.
