It's a new one for me too, Rima. Something to tuck away for future references.

Wow, cool technique! Thanks for sharing.

I tried cutting them out of black fondant at first, but the store-bought black fondant is SOOOO gooey, I couldn't get clean cuts.  This was actually the easier compromise! LOL!  I don't have the cutters and didn't want to be $5 for something I'd probably only use once or twice, so was trying to use an X-acto and a template.

Oh, man! You put a lot of work into these...and it really does show!

I printed out a page of the symbol in the size I wanted (I had about 9 of them on the page) with my regular printer on cardstock.  I turned a ziplock bag inside out (so the food-safe side was outside) and slid the paper inside.  Then I melted dark chocolate and "traced" the bats with a size 1 piping tip onto the plastic.  Pop them in the fridge for about a minute or two and they come right off the plastic.  I put the smooth side up (the other side was pretty bumpy) and pressed it into the soft buttercream.

How did you do the bats, Eileen? Did you have a cutter, or did you cut each one out by hand?
