A pineapple upside down cake piped with Chantilly cream and edged with "upside down" molded candy melt pineapples. Orange and yellow were used to make a truer pineapple colour.

Ah.....
ALWAYS extra whip cream on the cake....Mmmmmmm
I actually did a whole liter and sent the rest in a cooler bag so they could pile it on as much as they wanted!
lol - who would complain about the extra cream? If it were my hubby he'd say - is there extra cream to go with this! I made a black forest gateau with oodles of whipped cream and he still wanted double cream poured over his slice.
Thanks, Katy and Linda. No, the cream is holding them in place. I tried putting a toothpick in between two while they were still a little soft but it didn't work so well (that was to stick them in the cherries). So I went with the halves around the outside and was happy with it. They were a lot higher than the cake, but I don't think anyone complained about the extra cream.
That turned out so cute! How clever! Did you end up using toothpicks inside to hold them up?
Oh yes Laurie - YOU DID IT! Brilliant execution on the pineapples and it looks really yummy.
Thanks, June.
The dark bits are crusted brown sugar. We tried to flip it onto the board as straight as possible and failed. We then tried to move it but of course it was still warm and it cracked a bit. But she loved it anyway, crooked or not. I tried to get a smaller board but this is all I could get on short notice.
Looks pretty good to me Laurie. The pineapples turned out wonderful!!! I would love a slice right now.
:o)
