This is a dummy cake that I have been working on for our cake show in September.By the time I have it done, it should be 4 tiers total, adding 2 more at the bottom of this cake. So far, I have done the tufted billow weave on the bottom of this cake, and on the top tier it is brushed embroidery using royal icing on fondant. Once I had this much done, I sprayed it all over with super pearl luster dust using my air brush. It's a work in progress....

Yes tomorrow is going to be a big day.  Although I am going to my sister's house, I will be making turkey, stuffing, soup, Portuguese style baked beans and the cake.  Can you tell I like to cook?  lol

Thanks Goreti for your imput. I was thinking the same thing. When are you going to do your Easter cake? Tomorrow? I can't wait to see how it turns out. =O)

I think it will look beautiful.  I really like the idea of using the square tier.  It will really add interest.

The tufted billow weave isn't that hard. I use 2" squares cut from fondant, pinch the ends in an accordion fashion like when you make a bow (looks kind of like a W fold only with another fold on each end

VWV <----< Like that. Use a little water inside each fold to hold them together and then trim off any excess on the ends to clean them up, and space them out on the cake about 1-5/8" for each tuft. Make sure you leave enough room for whatever you choose to put between.

Here is what I am thinking, Goreti, and tell me what you think. The next one, I thought I would use a square tier and cover it in pink fondant, then do white stripes on it with pearls added on either side of the stripes to look like ribbon, and then the bottom tier either a square or round and drape the fondant like fabric all over it like a skirting. What do you think?

I really love this.  One of these days I want to try the tufted billow weave.  The embroidery is also so pretty.  When you add the 2 together, it is awesome.  Can't wait to see the finished project.
