Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This is a Halloween cake that I donated to Georgetown University Hospital in D.C. The party was for children currently in the hospital undergoing treatment as well as children that have been discharged.

It was a 3 tier topsy turvy cake. Vanilla, Strawberry, and Chocolate cakes. Pumpkin is mad from rice krispies and covered in modeling chocolate. All tiers covered in fondant. Mini pumpkins are hand molded modeling chocolate. House is made from gumpaste and handpainted. Bottom tier is also handpainted. You can't see the bats very well in this picture, but there were 6 fondant bats sticking out of the cake on wires, as well as the paper moon in the middle that had a flashing light behind it.

Wow! This is lovely, and I like the spiderweb cake-board covering. The colours work beautifully too - they're bright and cheerful, buy still halloween-y.
