My niece requested an "Alice in Wonderland" cake for her birthday which is today. She wanted it in black & red so this is my take. Top tier is chocolate cake w/mocha buttercream covered in black/chocolate mmf. Bottom tier is red velvet w/cream cheese buttercream which I had some issues with. Originally bottom tier was supposed to be covered w/red & white rosettes to represent the queen's roses being painted red but they kept sliding off the cake. No matter what I did they just wouldn't stay. Ended up having to scrape it all off & just ice it as best I could :( Decorations were made w/combination gumpaste, Wilton Shape & Amaze, & edible wafer paper images.

I had roses slide, but that was after they took it away, not a good feeling, for it was for a family member.

Yes, I did put a lot of work into this one. It upsets me when I have a specific plan/design in mind & something happens that keeps me from following through with it like the icing not cooperating. Makes me feel like I'm not delivering my best. But she was happy w/it & I guess that's all that counts.

Yes, Sandra, they are. One day I would like to get one of those printers that prints out edible images. You can do so much w/them.

Are your pages edible images?  I like the molded flowers around the cake board, too.
