so all th straw is buttercream?????? thanks for responding and I luv how you did the hat. even better for using $store finds to help you out. great job!!!!!!!!!
Thank you! it was my first attempt an i was very happy with the result. Please excuse the cushion in the back ground, i was trying to have a neutral background.
The straw was done with 3 different size normal round tips just made stripes up the side starting from the base, working upwards, alternating between the 2 bags (large and medium size) once the sides were covered i used a grass tip and starting at the bottom on the öpen"ends started pipings short puffs of "grass" from the bottom, when both sides were covered i used the grass tip and made long stips randomly over the top and sides to blend in the short sides and the long sides so to speak then i just ran the grass tip n long strips on all sides to add some finner grass texture to all the long sides.
The had was a blast! i got a plastic hat from a party shop and just dropped fondant over it, trimmed the edges and let it dry for a week. then i just lifted the fondant hat off the plastic hat and presto! added some silver string, a "J" with silver balls pressed into while it was still wet and secured it with petal glue once both the hat and "J"were dry, brushed some eddible glitter round the rim of the hat. i was a little nervous that the hat would cave in once the plastic hat was removed so i just scrunched some baking paper and gently put in inside the hat to give it some stability.
luv this, what did you do the straw with, and I'd to know how to do the hat
It turned out wonderful Vicky. You are a talented cake decorator.
