The purse strap was done with fondant braided with long pointed dowels "braided" in the ends to secure it in the cake.  It came out fine, but next time I'll opt for sugar paste, dries much faster and harder!

I love how you did the Handle.  I hadn't thought about doing it like this.  When I have made purse cakes I spend days making links and putting them together.  This looks the same but looks like it would be easier.
