Thanks Luisa but there is a slight cheat involved on this cake the flowers and leaves are all mounted on a separate cake board (to avoid wires in the actual cake) so the recipient  has a keepsake of the occasion. So I could do what they do in the titles of some films:

"No flowers where harmed in the cutting of this cake"    lo!l
