I am self taught also!! I took a class when I was thirteen and have just played with cake all my life. I look at alot of books and try to figure everything out. I would love to learn more. I just try and remember it is a cake and it can't be perfect!!

I use Stress free cake supports you can find them online. I don't use dowel rods anymore, you can get the legs in any length. I have a bunch in every length. They are expensive but I just have people put a deposit on them and they get them back to me. I love love love them it makes my job so much easier!!!

are there pillars in between? if so i haven't worked with pillars yet, do you shove the pillars into the cake or do they sit on top? i'm always afraid they will fall through the cake from the weight of the top tiers so i haven't tried them yet... sorry if this is a silly question, i am a self learner with a lot to learn still....

The contrasts of the white, black and red make this very stunning and elegant.  I like the petals "falling off the top!

Yes I did!! I covered square boards with black tape so you wouldn't see the boards on the bottom of the cake also.

Very nice . Did you use ribbon for the bottom borders?
