Thats the thing about cake decorating you can make them as personal as you like. Very funny idea about the eye ball and very original. I love your idea for the Christmas colors for the December birthday. Might just steal it as I have been asked to make a cake for a very glamours lady who will be celebrating her 65th on Christmas day.

My son went downstairs today to get a thread & needle. My sewing/craft/caking area is their. He saw the shoe I made. Liked it & was impressed. I made the shoe "Christmas colors" since she is a Dec b-day. I also made a large "eyeball" for my son, because he works for a ophthalmology clinic. I wish I had known he was going to have his eyes lasered. I would have made glasses with a large X through them. Even he didn't know the clinic was going to do his eyes. Was suppose to be in the New Year. No time to change now. The "eyeball" will have to do!!

Silly me, dear dear working at too many cakes makes the mind go blank after a bit lol.
Yes get a shoe and rip it up, it's good to keep that job for a day you feel your going crazy. It does help to make a stronger gum paste shoe.
Drama group sounds fun that should relive some winter gloom

Cake is not for my daughter, but for my sons girlfriend. My silly post was so long... you probably lost tract.. hee hee
Your the 2nd caker I know that uses a actual shoe to "fashion" their gumpaste shoe. Think that's a good idea. Maybe will go to the Amity/Sally Ann get a shoe, rip it apart & use as a template.
I hate the winter. NOT a cold weather person. I tend to hybernate. I do belong to a theatre group, that gets me out. :0)

Good point June regarding the weather, our January weather is not good to be driving in but I am hoping for a more pleasant winter and I am feeling bored with the long dark nights just want to get out lol.
The first high heel I did was an very time consuming but I got there. I now use a plastic princess shoe that I have cut the top of so I can dry the sole out on for a few days I find this a lot easier. The heel I found to be less trouble if I cut the top part of the heel on an angle so it fits with the slope on the part of the sole.
I am sure your daughter will be well impressed with her cake as we all are with the brilliant cakes you make

I have taken several evening courses. Enjoyed them. Gotta say tho, won't do it again in the winter. Just too blame cold. Then you have to drag all your cake "gear". Being retired now, I prefer weekdays & wknds. That is IF I were to sign up for something. But since it is a hobby, it is far cheaper for the Craftsy courses for me. We have some talented teachers here who teach at their shop & local college. Trouble is, there either too $$, or if they don't enough participation, course gets cancelled. I'm happy to learn as I go along.
Actually I just finished my 1st high heel shoe. Made for my sons girlfriends b-day cake. It is drying as I type. Her b-day is actually today. We are celebrating after Christmas. My daughter & son-in-lw will here for 2wks of Christmas holidays. So we will celebrate her b-day & my sons together. My sons is in Jan. I hope she likes the shoe. Was a lot of fiddling. Had a real hard time with the heel. Think I'm going to make a mould of a heel. Much easier than trying to fashion one from scratch.

Lol now there is a plan June. I have committed myself to the local school evening classes. Hope I can that way meet up with with some locals who are also interested in cake decorating and at the same time I may learn something new

I have 3 courses paid for on Craftsy. Haven't had time to sit through them. In the new year I am devoting certain "decorating" days to myself! Telling the family.... I'm on retreat.... Decorating Retreat!! Lock myself away... and do the course.
