Michelle, that little guy is so cute and perfect.
Hey Terry
What I do, and a lot of cakers here on CWB is get from 5-10 quotes from nearby bakeries, cake decorators of approx of what you are going to make. See what they would charge. Then you factor in your own decorating experience. Figure the difference. You basically can only charge what your particular market can bear. Unless of course you have built up a good customer base, or your The Cake Boss..... Then..ha! ha!, you can charge whatever you want
I am going to do a variation of this cake for birthday cake. I was wondering if anyone could give me an idea of what something like this should be charged, price wise? I worked up the cost of the ingredients and it comes to about $60, but its the labor that is getting me. I know my time is worth something, but I'm just starting out so I don't know what the going rate is, can anyone give me an idea? I live outside of Philadelphia. Thanks so much.
Oh, another question, roughly how long did the entire cake take to make?
Hi Michelle,
Thanks for replying. Is the cake (bone) covered in buttercream or fondant? As far as the dog, did you sculpt it from rice crispy treats and then covered with modeling chocolate?
I have a request for a chihuahua cake, and this is perfect. I have never done any sculpturing, let alone a chihuahua. I would be most grateful if you could let me know how you did this, it turned out great.
Thank you so much.
Wow!!!
