Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

This was my first attempt at making this cake. It is made from chocolate sponge and covered completely in dark chocolate ganache. It is then covered in sugarpaste, The arms, ears and nose are made from sugarpaste as well. The wee figure at the side is made from gumpaste and sugar paste. This is a trial cake, of a cake I will be doing next week for my nephew's birthday. It is not clean and tidy but it is just a trial, hopefully the one for his birthday will be nice and neat and clean.

Well

I am surprised that I didn't think of the shelter. I took care of a client there, and those poor women & kids flee with the clothes on their backs. Would be a real treat.  Oh, and here, where I live, I just found out, your cake is considered a donation so you can write it off on your income tax.

June, that's a great idea, I really should do something like donating them, I make trial cakes of all the cakes I've never done before, so that I know where my mistakes are. I'll remember that. Thanks again.

Can you donate the cake to a charity or perhaps a women's shelter? That was a tip one of my cake friends gave me. Gonna do that next time I make a practice cake. :o)

Hi June, thanks for the tip about hot knife. I think my family are all sick of eating my trial cakes and I really should stop eating them as well... My clothes are screaming at me to take it easy... Haha. Thanks again.

I don't know Lorraine.... this looks pretty darn good to me. A hot knife would smoothe any rough spots on your cake.   My question is.... who is going to eat ALL this trial cake....  hee hee

:o)
