your cakes are faboo too!!
the sail is a hard wood dowel and a scrap of fabric. my hubby drilled a hole in the upright dowel, placed a small dowel in the hole and sewed the fabric over the small dowel. There is a dowel on the bottom part of the fabric and it just hangs free.
Hi,
Your cakes are beautiful.....do you do this out of your home?? I have been wondering how to go about that...are there special licenses needed...right now I solely do cakes for family...and it is trial and error...how else to learn right?? I like to do all kinds of dessert cakes...I have taken 1 class at Nicolet...can make a mean rose..lol...I am a scratch baker too....would love to do wedding cakes some day....I know that takes a lot of practice too...I am just starting to work with fondant...I really need to atake a class on it...how did you learn?? Sue
absolutely PERFECT!!!!! There's one other person looking into the space but the owner (and the city) doesn't really want to rent to them because of the type of business (tattoo parlor) I went by the other bakery in town (never been) mom and I both got a cupcake. $1.89 for both cupcakes and in a standard cupcake cup, with the cupcake and a swirl of icing, the icing was still below the top of the liner. my cupcake was literally about 1/2 inch thick and crunchy on top. If i can just get the money together i KNOW i can make this work.
been super busy..... having 5 or 6 orders or more a weekend plus working a full time 9-5 m-f job and mom to 2 under 5...sometimes i question my sanity....other than that, been workin gon the business plan. investor should be going with me saturday to look at the space as long as the other comany doesn't get it. should know something about that by friday. wish me luck
Okay ~ this is what happened ~ I had a piece of paper and it said:

Town Plot Road
Waterbury, CT
So when I saw that with my own handwriting, I freaked out and was thrilled! Right before I stepped out of the house, I realized that I had checked out your website the day I had to deliver a cake to Waterbury and had everything on the same piece of paper. LOL. For a minute there I was thinking that I could visit you and we can share some cake horror stories, etc. Oh well, all my excitement down the drain:( Anyway, I'm glad we're friends on here. ~ D
Thanx Eileen for writing me back....And yeah I am still searching the that...but I guess I am gonna try out ur fondant recipe....And i hope I will get it right..... :)
Hi Eileen, I finally made the marshmallow fondant and I cover my cake with it and I make couple of flowers too....I am very happy that finally I did it....thanx to you... :)
Eileen
Do you know where I can get Soft Ladyfingers in Rhinelander? I am making a Tiramisu and would really like to have the soft ladyfingers......Thanks Sue
Thank You ..Ifigured Trigs might have them....I looked once before but never thought to ask at the deli and I ended up buying the hard cookie kind.was not the same......
You get BONUS POINTS for making a beautiful chocolate cake outside of your home without all of your tools! Absolutely!!!! I'm giving you 5 gold stars for your efforts and splendid humorous attitude! You make me laugh so much!!!!
Happy birthday to my wonderful friend! Thank you for being a part of my life and helping me each day with this website. Just want you to know you are appreciated and I'm hoping that we get the opportunity to meet in person some day. Oh, and let me know when you want to talk on the phone.
Ok, we can talk next week either Monday or Tuesday. I'm going to Cozumel on Wednesday, yipee! I'm taking my laptop with me, so I will be checking in on the site.
Hi Eileen, Thank you for the compliment on my Halloween cake! You asked how I got the texture, and the answer is a napkin! My husband calls it my trademark...I put it on all my cakes because I love the way it looks! Once I've frosted the cake, I let it sit 5-10 minutes, then press a napkin with the texture on it and rub it gently. It really doesn't take much time, and helps to make the cake look smoother! If you want it really smooth, use a VIVA paper towel - it works the best! Good Luck! PS - Your cakes are BEAUTIFUL!!
I actually have been doing cakes for only a year myself, and have only made 34 decorated cakes. Yes, my skills are more developed, because I am also a graphic designer, and decorating comes naturally to me. But since I've made 4 more cakes than the rules allow, yes...I do understand.
Thanks..I have open and too many of my gumpaste flowers while changing the title..hopefully you have not change the wedding cake as well as other cakes pictured that do include gumpaste flowers as they would be acceptable for the contest.
..I'm new to this contest thing..first time ever entering one lol. Ok, so I want back and removed/re-titled the "gumpaste flower contest" titles on those that had only flowers (no cake) ..But I'm not seeing any of mine that do apply to the contest, in the scroll at the top of the page with the others. Yikes! have I really messed mine up now? lol...Sorry newbie here..lol. maybe I should just go bake a cake..it seems to be the answer to ALL problems lol.
You can also check more of my cake in facebook REBES CAKE... I love decorating cake, am from Costa Rica and I teacher cake decorarting in a big institute here.
One of the things that I do with my cake is by very carefull with the details, color, and also favors.
Hi! I finished my Mardi Gras cake last night so I wanted you to see the final mask that you gave me advice about! I got off work late last night and had to be back early this am so I felt like I was rushed in putting it all together. Lots of lessons learned but now I am stressed about it making it to the party in one piece....not to mention my husband is taking it so I told him to leave about 5 hours before the party starts, drive 20mph, and take back roads only. ;) (The party is only about 30 minutes away.) Thanks again for your help! Julie
I wanted to make sure that you got my reply, I tend to be a little computer retarded so I think I might have replied incorrectly. The big mask was free handed with a scalpel, I love cutting gumpaste with them....they cut super clean lines. The small masks were a metal cutter that I found at a local shop. Everything was handpainted wtih undiluted airbrush paints. It was super fun to make! I have another one for this weekend for my nephew so I am gonna try my hand at marbling fondant to look like camo. Pics to follow!
okay, i did it with each individual picture, i thought by going to profile settings and changing that to 'anyone' would work.....i have alot to learn about this site :)
Hi Eileen...just noticed your comment regarding the first cut of casting. Congrats!! I just sent my application off and hope it's not too late to be considered. You do awesome work and wish you lots of luck with the Next Great Baker.
