Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

Hello North Carolina Bakers!  I am looking into obtaining liability insurance for my home-based processor cake business.  For those of you who have your business already established, 1) Did you obtain liability insurance?  If no, what was your reasoning? 2) If you did obtain insurance, who did you get it with?

I got a quote yesterday and it was over $600.00 a year.  Ouch! I do not want to pay that.  I appreciate any help any of you can give me.

Thanks,

Janet

I am afraid to call and find out after finding out your price for insurance since we both live in NC wonder what it covers us as far as liability insurance

I was also told we need to keep it in with our home owners insurance since it is a home based business,  Not sure if this is true or not

Tamara, I ended up finding out that the business liability was not covered under my home owners.  Thankfully, after getting them to check into it again, I found out my insurance company, State Farm, does offer a liability insurance policy for only $250.00 a year so I got it with them.

Thanks Janet hate we haven't been able to have lunch yet I am glad you found out about the insurance because now I feel like I have a little better knowledge whenever I speak to the insurance company  Talk to you later and hopefully soon we can get together the next time I am in Winston

I have insurance also for around $250 - RLI insurance. Not sure if you can contact them directly, or if your personal insurance write its for you. It's been a couple years I've had it now. I'm in Raleigh.
