Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I'm new here and am excited to explore the site!  I have a question that I hope someone can answer. I just got a new Canon iP3600 printer for printing edible images.  When I opened the print head I found that the disks that the cartridges sit on are coated in some clear ink.  The manual refers to the ink and says to be careful not to get it on your hands.  Now I'm worried about using this for edible images!  I know this printer is recommended for edible images so there must be a way of dealing with it.  Does anyone know whether I can just wipe it off and then do some printing onto regular paper to flush out any residual ink remaining?  Thanks so much and I look forward to sharing with this group!

I don't know the answer but I would check with Debbie at www.icingimages.com and see if she can can help you... she knows a lot about the canon printers.  You'll find their phone number on the website.

Hi! It is fine to use as is. The cleaning cycles and alignments will take care if it.
