My printer is just like the printers listed in a couple of threads but mine only print green. When I print one the frosting sheet its in green. I printed the same pattern on regular paper and it came out the color it was suppose to be. I have cleaned and deep cleaned and its still green. I have adjusted the colors and settings and its still green. I am using Photo Frost paper and the printer is Cannon Pixma iP3600. I am at my wits end with this thing. Can someone please help me? I really need this jewel working. Thanks in advance for your assistance.

My experience with that printer hasn't been good.  I had enough and bought a new one a few months ago.  I had a simular problem quite a while ago and I believe it was the setting.  I had it set to "photo" quality and then I switched to "normal" paper setting and it worked better.  I also had problems with the ink leaking into the yellow cartridge and made everything green.

Good luck with that printer....I don't know why it is one of the "better" ones...

Thanks Kelley. I tried the paper setting change and the other settings also. Will look into the leaky cartridge today, This has soured me on cannon copiers. What brand did you get and where if you don't mind sharing that info.

I purchased the Cannon MX870.  It's wireless and It takes the same cartridges and it is also a scanner and copier, which I can use.  I turned the old ip3600 into our normal printer (cause I still had the old original inks to use) and it works terrific!  Originally I had done a ton of deep cleans and was convinced the print head was the cause of my frustration, but the print head has worked like a charm with the regular ink in it....so who knows?

The new printer is awesome and has a clearer/crisper  picture in my opinion.  I just print off a pic every 7-10 days to keep the ink running if I don't have a cake to do.

I got it on sale for about $120 at NCIX.com  I believe amazon had it as well, for around $140.

If it prints fine on paper I'm guessing it's not the printer.  Contact Debbie at icingimages as she is very knowledgable on canon printers and her customer service is out of this world.

The printer is a good printer so do not go out and buy a new printer! Edible printers do not use regular toxic ink so there is going to be some color variation.  However, most edible inks can give you a decent picture. Sometimes the type of picture can interfere as well.  But first start with the basics.  Print a nozzle check and make sure all your colors are printing as they should be.  If they are, then it has to do with the picture and the printer settings.  If the colors are not coming through, you would have to clean your printhead and check your ink levels.  Lets assume that everything is printing as it should be.  What is the source of your picture? Internet? Word type document? Or was it created in a graphics program.  I will assume that it is not an original graphic or picture.  In otherwords, it either passed through some sort of word type or PDF type program.  This will effect the way your colors come out and how well they last.  Same with the internet graphics. So, that being said, if your picture is not an original picture and or originated in a graphics program, then you want to treat it like a word type file.  Your printer settings should then be regular paper type and the print quality should be high.  If you are printing a graphic file or photo it should be Matte paper type and standard print quality.

 

Ok. step back a second.  You did say you are only printing green and the other printer prints fine.  Now we will go the other route...printhead clog or cartridge problem.  There are a lot of things that can happen here.  Based on what you are telling me in your post, you have a sponged cartridge.  If your cartridge is old or been refilled too many times, you may have a cartridge issue. If you believe it is your cartridges, you can try topping them off with a refill (assumig you do not have another set) to see if it gets the flow in the cartridge going. Another possiblity is if your printer sat unused, you could have a clog in which you would have to clean out your printhead. Or one more possibility (sorry many things it could  be ) is your printer is on the older side (2 plus years) and your sponges may be dry.  Dampening sponges is easy and you can email my sales dept and they can send you the how tos on that. sales@icingimages.com   So many options!!!  I hope that I have been able to give you some direction to help you get this printer moving for you.
