Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I would love to do the Planet cake courses but just too expensive for me.  Hopefully, 1 day!  So i'm relying on the advice of others and of course the world wide web :) .. I've done 1 community cake decorating course.  I would love to do another but just haven't gotten around to it yet.  I've got my hands full atm with a 3mnth old who's fully BF (+ my 5 and 3yr olds) so that leaves me only to research thru my laptop hehehehe.

Well.. i am self taught as well.. no time or money for the big classes.. i have take course 1 through Wilton but that was it.. it does get easier with practice.. i have 4 cake due this weekend and just completed a 4th anniversary cake this past weekend and it went great! I have three kids myself but are much older.. i start at 7yrs and go up to 17Yrs.. :) life is busy and sometimes very stressful, running the house and a full time job( which i am blessed to be able to work from home) making and decorating cakes is a pure joy and stress releaver for me..youtube is a great tool! you can really learn alot from it. I know that is how i mastered the buttercream rose... smoothing buttercream icing and so on..

I hear ya!! I was looking into Culinary Schools, but with 3 kids myself and a busy schedule and part time work on the side at night-it's tough!! Family first!... I also took a Wilton cake course to learn the basics and it really helped to make things easier to do it the simple way!! I have recently learned about more cake instruction via youtube and plan on using that when I need it! They have EVERYTHING on there these days!! Other than that, it seems to be the materials you get and learning how to use them. Learn as you go! Planet Cakes are awesome!! They do great work!! I recently came across their website :)
try cake central and wilton site i like both but favor cc both are really friendly
i like u-tube to, be sure to also watch Edna
