I am from Greenwood, Arkansas originally from NW Iowa. I've been taking classes at my local Michael's store and already there's been lots of changes. They've taken a lot of the Wilton supplies down or discontinued items. I've learned more from videos off of You-Tube or from facebook friends. My mom showed me how to do cakes 20yrs ago but it's nothing like what it is today. I have been making more and more cakes since just before Christmas 2009, my husband works at a children's emergency shelter and a recent board meeting I made a cake for him to serve, it looks like the logo of their name. Hubby decided at the last minute that he wanted the initials below the logo he put that on....not good....don't let them do anything without a tracing...lol here's the cake.
Hey! I'm Jennifer, and I'm from Dacula, Georgia. I am a full-time Spanish teacher, and I just started making cakes on the side at the end of February, when I made my 3year old daughter's birthday cake. Since then, I have made 12 cakes. I have not taken any official classes. However, my high school offered cooking classes - Foods 1-4. The teacher started to teach cake decorating in Foods 3. That is where I learned what I know. Now, I just play around and teach myself. I would like to go through the Wilton classes to be "certified", but I don't want to start at the beginning. I'm trying to find out if it is possible to "test out" of a couple of the classes. Does anybody know?? I'm happy to be here, and I hope I learn a lot. :)
Hello everyone,
I am from Ocala, Fl. I have been decorating cakes for years, it was something I could do at home when my grown daughters were little. I also specialize in the good old southern pound cakes.
