Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have been asked to make the Groom's cake for my best friend's daughter's wedding.  They want a Fluer De Lies cut out the the design of the LSU tiger eye (it is on the center of the football field on the stadium), I have a picture.

I have looked for a pan, they do have a couple but they are not large enough.  I am going to carve it.  But am not sure what pan to use.  I would like the cake to be about 16".  I have looking at pans and maybe the pan that has the corners cut off might be a good one since the corners will be cut off or maybe even a round one.

Does anyone one have an advise on this?  Has anyone done this before?

Here is a picture.

Use a full sheet cake pan and cut it out
I agree with All About Cake ,I think a round pan won't give u room for ur desing , it's better if the top and the bottom are little pit longer than the sides . Good luck
Are you carving the cake out of the fleur de leis?  If so a square pan should work.  Not sure if the others would cover you.  You can always make cake balls out of the scraps!  Be sure you measure your oven before you order pans so it will fit in your oven.  Some of the larger pans will not fit in a standard oven!  Looks like fun!
Thanks guys.  I am thinking a 12X18 since I want it taller then wider.  And Jeri do you think your Triple Chocolate will hold up to carve.  It needs to be a chocolate cake, since it is the grooms cake.  Or should I use something else.  I figure as long as I freeze it first it should carve right?
Oh well I don't have to make this cake after all, I guess my price was to high.... OH well!!!  Thanks for the advise guys.... Maybe one day I will do it.
