Cake Decorating Community - Cakes We Bake

I have been making and delivering cakes for over 10 years.  I have finally had my first mishap that I was able to salvage before leaving my bakery and still saved the day... but it was a close one!  How do those of you who make and deliver multi-tiered cakes deliver them?  Totally assembled or do you stack them on-site?  Have any of you heard of the 'cake safe'?  They are pricey, but after last weekend, the $400+ for it doesn't seem so far fetched..... thanks for the responses...

I would also like the information on where to order the support system when you guys are up and running. Do you have any pics of the cakes in your vehicle when using it?

I deliver stacked. I use a support system called CakeStackers and charge a deposit fee because it was quite expensive but for those who'd rather skip the deposit I use two dowel rods, one through either side of the cake and make sure the dowel rods go all the way through the bottom support. I too was looking at Cake Safe for those customers who didn't want to deal with the deposit for the cake stackers as it seems to be a great investment . My only problem is that I use masonite board as the bottom support and am worried as to how that might affect the use of the metal rod used in the cake safe. If anyone knows please let me know. Thanks!

I am also interested in your bother's cake stacking device.
